Qualify for the Advanced certificate by successfully completing the Basic program.  The payoff for you?  Efficient and cost-effective research methods; “Basic (or Advanced) LexisNexis Certification” that you can add to your resume; 500 points for successfully completing each one; and a certificate of completion.  Questions?  Contact Michael Campion at michael.campion@lexisnexis.com.

Love eJournals?

Us too. There are two great ways to find journals in the B.U. system.

1.    Run a Journal Title search in the B.U. Catalog.  This will tell you whether we have the journal in print or electronic format, and will also provide a link to the electronic version if there is one.

2.    Look in the Boston University Alphabetical List of Electronic Journals.  This is a fairly comprehensive list of BU licensed e-journals but does not include journals exclusively on law school Lexis or Westlaw.

If the title is not available from one of the above sources, please ask a reference librarian for further assistance.

Finding Newspapers

If you are looking for newspapers, here’s a good two-step process to follow.

  1. Run a search in the BU Catalog for the title of the newspaper.  This will tell you whether we have it in print (only for the most recent) or microfiche.  Many of the newspapers on microfiche are at Mugar.
  2. If BU doesn’t have it, try LexisNexis, which is excellent for news materials.  Just use the LexisNexis “Find a Source” feature from the Research System page to see if LN carries the title.  They have almost every newspaper out there.

If neither works, ask one of the reference librarians.

On another note, Welcome Back and Good Luck in the Spring Semester!
