The White House App

As part of President Obama’s commitment to an open and transparent government, the White House is developing a mobile platform for the content on WhiteHouse.gov. The first step toward a mobile platform is the release of the White House App for the iPhone. The App basically formats the content of WhiteHouse.gov website for viewing on the iPhone. You can access the blog, photos, video and official statements such as transcripts of the President’s speeches. Try it out for free at the iTunes App Store.

For those who do not use iPhone, the White House will soon launch mobile.WhiteHouse.gov. This mobile ready version of the website will allow any internet-enable device to access the website’s content.

Insider’s Bar Application Tip

As bar application deadlines approach, expect to hear law students swapping horror stories about each state’s differing and sometimes onerous application requirements.  To avoid last minute stress, be aware of your state’s requirements well before the deadline.  But here is a less obvious tip that can make your application easier:

Did you know that many applications, including Massachusetts, require a detailed employment history, including the names, addresses, and dates of employment for EVERY employer you’ve had since you began working?  Especially if you have worked many different part-time or temporary positions in high school, college, or beyond, this can be a difficult task.  For a small fee, the Social Security Administration will create a detailed earnings report listing every employer from your past along with the employer’s address and how much income was reported to SSA.   I used my report to quickly and accurately complete my bar application and felt confident that I had not forgotten one of my shorter gigs or given an incorrect address.  Request yours using this form but do it soon, because the report will take several weeks to arrive.  See here for more information.
